The John Nallen-trained Minella Tara was putting in a very promising debut performance in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Stowlin only to fall at the penultimate obstacle when still very much in contention. Before the son of Kayf Tara's departure, he travelled into the race very nicely and certainly looked set to play a big role when coming to grief. Having been ridden by Brian Lawless, there could be plenty more to come from this good- looking bay, who is out of a half-sister to seven-time winner Bilboa and could well develop into a useful sort between the rails for new connections.
